I'm Katherine McKay and I am very excited to continue in the role of teaching the preschool class and being a special educator for kindergarten-third grade. This is my second year teaching. I graduated from the University of New Hampshire with my bachelor's in Political Science and Spanish and my M.Ed. in Early Childhood Special Education.
At MES I enjoy having two roles, one as a classroom teacher and one as a special educator. When teaching preschool I get to focus on overall child development. As a special educator, I run small group lessons, work alongside classroom teachers to support students, and work individually with students on specific skills. I love the energy in preschool and I try to incorporate lots of music and movement activities as a way to learn while having fun. Previously, I spent a year interning at a public early childhood school for preschool and kindergarten where I worked with a special educator. I also taught a special education preschool class over the summer. I am excited to learn alongside my students and have fun at MES!
I currently live in Dover, NH though I am from southern, central NH. I grew up with my mom, dad, younger sister Molly, and younger brother Murray. Since I was a little girl I have always loved reading, it is one of my favorite things to do! I also love spending times with my many cousins at family events and with my friends during the weekends. I have a serious sweet tooth and I love anything chocolate. During the summer I love taking day trips around New England to see new places and try new things!
